10 Nov 2010 : Resurrection of Ross High Old Boys
Resurrection of Ross High Old Boys

Resurrection of Ross High Old Boys

Craig Mercer is looking for people to commit to a sub club to help support the maintenance of the club  and developing the facilities. The sub club will be known as the Ross High Old boys. Craig’s plans are for the Old Boys to commit to 4 events in the year. These may include a Burn’s supper, sponsor a game, Summer fun day and Gentleman’s evening. The plan is that these events will be open for anyone to attend and as always there will be a cost for staging an event for example £15 for a Burns Supper Ticket. Over and above the initial cost we are looking for the Old Boys to pay a subsequent £10 on top of the initial costs. The money raised from this will be donated to the Club maintenance and development.

Therefore we are asking for people to commit to the Old Boys and commit £40 to the club per annum. For an extra £10, and 4 nights out a year can’t be a bad thing.

Interested parties should note there interest to Craig Mercer

If we have 100 commitments then that assures £4,000 to help club maintenance and development.

10 Mar 2010 : Bill McLaren Tribute Evening

Murrayfield Stadium is playing host to a star studded tribute evening for Bill McLaren whose family, together with Scottish Rugby, extend a warm invitation to everyone involved in the game and in particular to valued members of the Scottish rugby community, such as you, who put so much into the game that Bill loved.

The gates will be open from 5pm, on Thursday 11 March, two nights before the Calcutta Cup match against England. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to arrive early and take their seats as the evening will start at 6.30pm sharp.

Free commemorative programmes will be available. The evening tribute, at Bill's "second home" will see the likes of Scotland's cap centurion Chris Paterson, Welsh wizard wing Gerald Davies, and other rugby greats and well-wishers attending from all over the world to celebrate and give thanks for the Hawick legend's genius.

The evening will see a large stage erected on the running track in front of the West Stand, with big screens showing pictures and specially-created match footage accompanied by some of Bill's most evocative commentary.

There will also be musical accompaniment from a Welsh male voice choir and Scottish Pipe Bands.

BBC presenter Dougie Donnelly will be the host for the evening, and he will also welcome tributes from former British and Irish Lions captains Gavin Hastings (Scotland) and Bill Beaumont (England) amongst others.

We very much hope that you can join us on Thursday and encourage you to forward this invitation to as many rugby enthusiasts as possible, to ensure they don't miss this wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to the "Voice of Rugby".
