Linden in the end came out easy winners but for the first 30 minutes it was a case of had they turned up for the game as they went through an catalogue of schoolboy errors. This allowed Ross High to take an early lead as their No 14 waltzed through a defence that was rooted to the spot to score at posts, fortunately they did not have a goal kicker of any quality which was proved as they also missed two easy penalty opportunities.Full back Adam Hall fielded a loose kick joined up with Greg Wylie who sent Stuart Renwick trundling up the touchline for 40 metres handing off several vain tackle attempts in the process to score.
Almost from the kick off Linden managed to knock on, Ross High stand off picked up inside own 22 and galloped unopposed to score at posts and convert. Right on half time G Wylie picked up loose ball and sent Steven Bouglas on a solo run from the half way line to score unfortunately for Linden their goal kicking was as bad as Ross High`s, half time score 12-10 to Ross High.
After the turn around it was a different story a good talking to by coach Lee Stewart changed the players frame of mind. Pressure on Ross High line with Graeme Colville, Steven Harkness and Barrie Keown to the fore, quick taken penalty along line and after two attempts at catching ball S Bouglas strolled in at posts, an easy John Tait conversion. A break out from own line with winger Greg Cunningham putting in a raker of a clearance kick, took play deep into Ross High territory, ball won by forwards along line foe S Renwick to stroll in at posts for bonus point and convert. With Linden now completely on top forwards and backs combined to send in G Wylie unopposed.
Ross High replied with a try in corner. Then in the dying minutes and with Linden down to 14 men Craig Smith appeared out of nowhere to jink through a bemused defence to score at posts with Captain Wattie Davies converting. A poor start to game from Linden maybe it was the 12noon kick off, it certainly took them 3o minutes to wake up. Tremendous running once again from S Bouglas at centre, every time he got ball panic stations from opposition, S Renwick and G Cunningham were also to the fore in backs.
