ROSS HIGH 18
The firsts’ unbeaten run was extended with a 10 try victory over Ross High. Again we saw phases of play where we delivered to our potential for devastating 15 man rugby and it was great to see the support play in each of the tries. There were some absolute belters, including...
• The juggling act that was a precursor to Don’s touchline where the ball was fed through four sets of hands and it reminded those watching of the kids’ game ‘hot potato’!
• Rory’s 65m dash after he pounced on the opportunity to disrupt a Ross high backs move with an interception
• Sean Reddix’s hack on and chase racing three defenders only for all four to be overtaken by our Road Runner – Andy W who managed to field the ball and complete another 60 m counter attack.
• Fraser Ferguson’s loitering with intent around the Ross High try line to secure his second with a poachers finish to what appeared to have been a full team handling move!
The other 6 were the result of hard toil and graft – and this is what we will need to continue delivering in the coming weeks. Yet again the forwards claimed their fair share of the glory taking the opponents on up front and then getting in the backs to offer support and the backs again were making first up tackles, showing just how well we can ruck and running devastating attacking lines at pace.
To some the score might suggest a relatively one-sided affair but this would be incorrect. Ross High managed to disrupt a number of good attacking moves with some solid defence and repeatedly put pressure on our line. The difference was that we were more clinical at time and were able to come away with points. Ross High are languishing at the bottom of the league but they showed a healthy degree of character that means they will come good and cause damage in this league. We wish them every success, with the exception of 15 January.
